LGBTQIA+ affirming Gestalt psychotherapy · New York & New Jersey
Come back to solid ground
Therapy rooted in presence, curiosity, and authentic connection.
Welcome
A steady place to land
My name is James Macaulay McManus and I’m a gay trans man and licensed clinical social worker based in NYC. I received my graduate education at Fordham University and began my social work career at non-profits like Housing Works and the NYC Anti-Violence Project. I have been in private practice for the last 4 years. I work primarily with LGBTQIA+ adolescents and adults navigating identity, coming out, and transition, and trauma.
While I am based in NYC, I can see anyone residing in NY or NJ. I am in-network with Aetna and am otherwise out-of-network.

How I work
Slow, steady, in your own time
There's no script here and nothing to perform. We follow what your life is already telling you — gently, with the body included — until the ground under you starts to feel like your own.
When you're ready
We can begin with one conversation.
A free 15-minute Zoom consultation, no obligation — a chance to see whether this feels like the right place for you.
